Tunisia Tour With Djerba Island

Arrival at Tunis airport, welcome by our guide. Transfer to the hotel in Tunis (15-30 Minutes driving = 05-15 Km), dinner and accommodation
After Breakfast, checkout and departure to visit to Thuborbo Majus (01H00 driving=55 Km) – It is one of the best-preserved sites in Tunisia. It was occupied by the Berbers, Phoenicians, and (in 27 B.C.) the Romans, afterwards converted into one of many Roman garrisons in North Africa (01H30 visit).
Continuation to Teboutsouk (01H30 driving = 90 Km) and lunch in hotel Thugga. Visit to the archaeological site of Dougga (02H00 visit): covering some 60 acres and laid out on a steep slope some 2,000 feet above the plain, Dougga was known as the “city of temples.” Visit to Dougga’s theater, which today is used for its Drama festival and accommodates almost 3,500 people; Visit to the Temple of Saturn, which was found evidence of a preRoman sanctuary dedicated to the Carthaginian god Gal; and the Temples of Augustan Piety and Mercury Continuation to Kairouan (02H00 driving = 120 Km), installation in the hotel, dinner and overnight
After breakfast checkout and explore Kairouan (02H00 visit = 5 Km) visit of the Great Mosque of Uqba Bin Nafi, an important Islamic landmark and architecture which was built in the 9th century
Next, visit Sidi Sahbi Mausoleum, which houses the tomb of one of Prophet Mohammed's companions known as the Barbe and the Aghlabiden pools. We will proceed to Sbeitla (02H00 driving = 105 Km). Lunch in a restaurant (1 HOUR) and then visit the Roman ruins of Sbeitla: One of the few ancient Roman cities that is famous for not only its strategic role but also its politics and economy have played a major role during antiquity (01H30 visit). Departure for Tozeur (02H00 driving = 170 Km), one of the famous oasis in the world which is surrounded by 200 springs. It is sheltered by a palm grove of more than 1000 ha – about 400.000 palm trees and world-renowned dates, also known as deglet nour which means “fingers of light”. Installation in the hotel, dinner and accommodation
After Breakfast, departure in 4X4 to visit the Mountain oasis of Chebika/Tamerza/ Midès (01H00 driving= 70 Km). ₋ In Chebika, the refreshing water rushes over an imposing waterfall to form a wadi surrounded by palm trees at the bottom of a gorge. Tamerza looks barricaded by its mountain range, as if suspended on the side of a vast canyon with commanding views over the vast plains as far as the Chott and the sand hills. Finally, there is Midès – the western – most and arguably the most impressive of these oases which overlooks a breathtakingly high canyon. Continuation to Ong Jmel (45 Minutes driving = 60 Km) and visit of the Star Wars place Return to Tozeur (45 minutes driving = 60 Km) and lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Medina of Tozeur and Dar Cherait museum (01H30 visit = 2-3 Km). Return to the hotel in Tozeur, dinner and accommodation
After Breakfast, check out and we will proceed to Douz (01H30 driving = 100 Km), the gateway to the Sahara crossing the dry salt lake of chott El Jerid, 1 Hour Camel riding in the dunes. Continuation to Matmata (01H30 driving = 90 Km) and explore its famous troglodytes, underground houses built to protect the Berbers from the intense heat in the summer. Lunch in troglodyte restaurant (01H00). Visit the Berber Museum in Tamezret and discover the amazaigh history. You will travel through the amazigh life and stories (01H30 visit). Departure to Djerba (02H30 driving = 175 Km), installation in the hotel and overnight.
Breakfast in the hotel, afterwards we will have a half day expedition to an Island tour (02H30 visit = 50 Km) by visiting the southwest of the island; you will see Guellala, the village of potters. All of the local people of this village are engaged in this ancestral craft and you can see vases, jugs, pitchers displayed along the main street. At the southern area of Houmt Souk, you can find Ghriba, a Jewish temple built in the 6th century BC. This is the second top place of Judaism in the world and you can see so many Jews gathered in the month of May. Lunch in restaurant (01H00) ₋ Departure to Sfax via the ferry (03H00 driving = 250 Km). Installation in the hotel in Sfax, dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, departure to El Jem (01H00 driving = 65 Km), enthralled by one of the world’s largest and most spectacular Roman Amphitheatre. Built in 238 AD, the Amphitheatre can hold up to 35,000 spectators. This monument illustrates the grandeur and extent of the Roman Empire (02H00 visit). Continuation to Monastir (45 Minutes driving = 55 Km), visit of the Ribath (from outside) and the Mausoleum Habib Bourguiba (01H00 visit). ₋ Departure to Sousse (25 minutes driving = 25 Km), the 3rdlargest city in Tunisia. The Medina of Sousse is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Tunisia. ₋ Lunch in restaurant (1 Hour). Explore the ramparts, walls that enclose certain part of the city and the 13th-century Ribath, an ancient rest stop for travelers, visit of Port El Kantaoui (01H30 visit)
Departure to Hammamet (01H15 driving = 85 m), visit of the Fortress and the Medina (01H00 Visit). Installation in the hotel in Hammamet dinner and overnight.
After Breakfast, checkout, departure to visit Carthage (01H30 driving = 85 Km) a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the oldest Phoenician settlement on the coast of North Africa. Continue to Byrsa Hill to view the main ruins of the Punic City and some of its glorious monuments like the Thermes d’Antonin, Tophet at Salambo and Punic ports. We will visit Sidi Bou Said (15 minutes driving = 5 Km): stroll through the narrow streets of Sidi Bou Said, a picturesque small town bordered by white-washed houses with blue shutters and doors. Check out the various art galleries and try some mint tea in one of the traditional street cafes while enjoying the superb view of the gulf of Tunisia. Then, spend some leisure time to indulge in shopping (02H00 visit). ₋ Lunch in local Restaurant (01H30) Departure to visit Bardo Museum (closed on Mondays) (30 minutes driving= 15 Km) = 20) one of the best archaeological museums in the Mediterranean, which is especially well known for its beautiful collection of mosaics. The museum is located in an old palace that belongs to the Beys, rulers of Tunisia (02H00 visit). Visit the Medina of Tunis and its souks (15 minutes driving = 5 Km) which are colourful local markets. Discover the exquisite craftsmanship of Tunisia’s artisans at the souks and experience the rich traditions and cultural heritage of Tunisia in its libraries and bookstores (01H30 visit). Installation in the hotel in Tunis, dinner and overnight.
