Arrival at Mexico City International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Night in Mexico City.
City Tour of Mexico City, the country's capital, and its must-see attractions: the Palace of Fine Arts, the Zócalo (main square), the House of Earthenware, the National Palace and the Metropolitan Cathedral. In the afternoon, visit one of the most important museums in the country, the National Museum of Anthropology where an incredible collection of pieces of pre-Hispanic art is exhibited. The tour will start 50 km north out of the city to visit one of the most important archaeological sites in the country known as the Pyramids of Teotihuacan, where we can appreciate the majesty of its temples. The Temple of the Sun, Temple of the Moon, the Citadel and the Temple dedicated to Quetzalcoatl. Then, transfer the Guadalupe Shrine. Discover the most visited religious site of America. Finally, transfer back to the hotel.
Depart south of Mexico City to visit Coyocan to admire the 16th century houses, tree-lined streets, and learn how this city has played an important role in historical empires such as the Aztec and Spanish. Finally, visit the Frida Kahlo Museum known as The Blue House, where Frida Kahlo was born and to which she returned during the last years of her life. See a wide variety of Mexican folk art and indigenous jewellery from her personal collection. Then, departure towards the south of Mexico City to visit Xochimilco, here you will find lush vegetation, floating gardens and you can see the chinampas. Also, enjoy a 2 hours trajinera tour (a colourful boat similar to a gondola used by the Aztecs) to take a ride through the famous canals of the neighbourhood.
Transfer from the hotel to Mexico City Airport (MEX), to fly to Mérida. (Flight NOT included) Upon arrival in Mérida, pick-up your car at the airport directly and drive to your hotel. Then, tour of the city where the most emblematic places are visited in the company of an expert guide. During the panoramic walk the history of the city is contemplated from the time of the Mayans to the Spanish colonization. Observing important venues such as the famous Zócalo, the Mérida Cathedral dedicated to San Ildefonso, the Montejo house, the Government Palace, the Plaza Mayor, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the main avenue; the Paseo de Montejo.
Drive to Uxmal. Once there, you will meet your English-speaking guide for a visit. Tour through the grandeur of the ancient Mayan civilization. Visit the imposing pyramids and palaces of Uxmal, such as the Pyramid of the Fortune Teller and the Governor's Palace, with their detailed architecture and fascinating reliefs. Uxmal is undoubtedly the most important and representative site of the Puuc Route. The facades of some of its buildings are decorated with masks of Chac, the God of Rain.
3-hour gastronomic tour to discover the Flavors of the Yucatan. You will first discover two specialized taco restaurants that will surprise you (2 tacos of your choice to taste in each restaurant). Then, head to Santa Ana Market where another tasting awaits you. Finally, at Santiago Park, you will discover “street” gastronomy. Free afternoon in Mérida.
Drive towards Chichén Itzá where you will meet your guide. Discover the best known and most visited Mayan site in the world. Chichén Itzá is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is part of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. It was the political, religious and cultural centre of the Mayan empire, in addition to being the capital of the area. The city had its heyday between 900 and 1200 AD. Its most emblematic building, the pyramid or castle of Kukulkan, is a must- see on the site. Its structure, characteristic of Mayan constructions of this era, is a witness to the knowledge of the Mayans in mathematics, astronomy, geometry and acoustics. Then, drive to Valladolid and free afternoon. Night in Valladolid.
Free morning in Valladolid. Then, drive to Selva Maya Hacienda. You will there discover the Saamalcenote. Cenotes are freshwater natural “swimming-pools”, having several shapes, whose formationremains a mystery. Places of Mayan sacrifices and ceremonies, they are today widely visited by localsand tourists looking for a unique and refreshing experience.This cenote is of the well type. Buffet meal on site. Drive to Tulum where you will meet your guide. Tulum, which means “wall” in Mayan, was one of thelast Mayan cities to be built, in one of the most strategic areas. It was an important seaport fortrade. In fact, it is the only Mayan site located on the seashore. The site is known for its wall and ElCastillo, the tallest construction on the site. It is thought that the city was populated since 564 AD.Finally, drive to Playa del Carmen and free time.Night in ValladolidNight in Playa del Carmen.
