Participation in the island tour Zakynthos Highlights: Departure: Tuesday (09:30-17:00) Description: Zakynthos is a fantastic island steeped in history and culture. It is very proud of its many local products and crafts from olives, olive oil, sweets, honey, wines to lace, rugs and pottery. We begin our day at Bochali, after all the guests have been picked up from their resorts. Here you will be able to take great views overlooking Zakynthos town. Bochali is a popular spot for the locals, especially on an evening where they can relax and meet up with friends. On the way to the mountains, we will visit an olive factory. Here we can see how the famous Zakynthian olive oil is produced in the winter. Continuing northwest passing the mountain village of Kiliomeno and onwards, through Agios Leon to the village of Anafonitria, here we will visit the famous monastery of Agios Dionysios (St Dennis) - the patron Saint of the Island. Agios Dionysios was well- known for his healing powers, forgiveness and compassion. Following on then to Exo Xora, which is the location of what is believed to be the oldest olive tree on the island, it is said to be more than 2000 years old. You also will have the opportunity to sample and purchase various local products. We will now head to the village of Kampi for our lunch stop with spectacular views over the cliffs and the amazing colours of the sea of the out-stretched Ionian Sea. Our final stop will be at a local Winery, where we will take you to see how one of the most popular wines of the island is produced. Of course, you will be able to taste the wines and purchase them too. Highlights: Tour a traditional olive factory and winery. Drive through idyllic mountain villages in the north of the island / Visit the 15th century monastery of St Dennis, the Patron Saint of the island.
