Baobab Lemurs and Tsingy

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will explore the forest again, this time in the daylight. This deciduous dry forest is the natural habitat of the largest carnivore of Madagascar, the “Fosa” the lemur predator. The forest is also home to 3 remarkable baobab species, other lemur species could also be found during your visit (2 to 4h stroll in the forest) Lunch at your own account. You will have a night stroll again to observe nocturnal wildlife’s you might have missed the previous night Head back to the hotel and enjoy dinner.

Breakfast at the hotel. Head north and cross the first ferry in Belo Tsiribihina. Lunch at your own account (suggestion: Mad Zebu Belo Tsiribihina, after the ferry). Continue towards Bekopaka, the gateway to the Tsingy of Bemaraha massif, and arrive there late in the day after crossing the second ferry. * The passages of basic ferries require a little patience because they are the only way to cross these rivers - They are therefore subject to the river traffic.

Breakfast at the hotel. Begin the discovery of the Tsingy of Bemaraha, by canoeing down the Manambolo gorge with its caves. Then, visit the small Tsingy which will give you a glimpse of the great Tsingy. It is a massive karst structure shaped like accented limestone peaks. It has been forged by nature for centuries and is a shelter for many species of animals including lemurs and several species of rare plants. Enjoy a picnic lunch (at your own account), during the excursion. Head back to the hotel for time at leisure for the rest of the day. Dinner at the hotel.

Have an early breakfast at the hotel. Drive to the Tsingy. Enjoy the splendid hike to Andamozavaky, the gate to the Great Tsingy, 17 km from the park entrance: mazes, joints networks and canyons with impressive dimensions that take you step by step to the top. You will pass through tunnels where it is sometimes necessary to get on all fours. You will have to go through the suspension bridge and its lookouts that have magnificent views across the park. Enjoy a picnic lunch (at your own account), during the visit. The trip is quite technical, combining many aspects of a mini climbing: caves, Monkey Bridge, harnesses... • Distance: 6 km • Duration: 5 to 6h. • Interest: Tsingy forest, lemurs, wildlife, views from the lookouts, suspension bridge... • Difficulty: Moderate to difficult • What to bring: headlamp, good walking shoes, mineral water (1.5 L per person minimum) Return to the hotel late in the afternoon.

Breakfast at the hotel & check out. Today will be a long driving day as you leave the massif early in the morning to make your way back to Morondava. Have a lunch in a local restaurant on the way (at your own account). You will arrive in Morondava, just in time to watch the sunset on the Baobabs Alley before settling into the hotel.
