This morning, you drive to Butare, stopping in Nyanza en-route to visit the ancient palace of Mwami, a Rwandan King. You have lunch at a restaurant in Butare before continuing to Nyungwe National Park. Drive through the forest arriving late afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Today, you trek in the forest, tracking chimpanzees. The afternoon is at leisure or you can choose to book a Colobus Monkey Trek, Canopy walk or bird walk (contact ggts for the same).

Early morning drive to Ruhengeri, the base for Gorilla trekking at the Volcanoes National Park. You have a briefing about the gorilla trek and then set out on foot in search of your assigned gorilla group. Once you have found your group, you have an hour to observe their fascinating interactions. You then return to the park gate by foot where you meet your driver who transfers you back to your lodge for lunch.

All Passengers must do the same activity i.e. one can not choose to do a gorilla trek and the other a Golden Monkey trek as the trail heads are different and an extra vehicle is required for transfers.
Children under 15 years of age are not allowed to do the gorilla tracking and must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Please advise full passport details at time of requesting bookings to enable us to secure the gorilla permits.
PERMITS ONCE PURCHASED CANNOT BE CANCELLED, TRANSFERRED OR AMENDED.
We may have to reroute the itinerary or accommodate in similar lodges in case of non-availability.

All the passengers must have Identification Card/Passport with them for internal flights.
Baggage on internal flights is strictly limited to 15kgs per person (including hand luggage). Any excess baggage will be charged by the airline at check-in
Travel in Rwanda is in short wheelbase 4x4 vehicles seating 6 passengers and the driver. This includes a passenger next to the driver and a passenger in the middle rear seat. Should travellers prefer to have more space, we suggest you consider the option of two vehicles when there are 6 travellers in a booking.
