Trekking Lovers - El Chalten And Calafate

Private guided hiking excursion to Fitz Roy (8-9 hours). Your guide will advise pick up time at the hotel. This is the main trekking area, and one of the prettiest in the area, it leads us to the foot of the mythical Mount Fitz Roy. 8:00 a.m.: Pick up of the passengers from their hotels by minibus to go to the trailhead at Hostería El Pilar, which is located 18 kms. from El Chalten. Just before arriving, we make a stop at a scenic spot overlooking the Fitz Roy. Then you get to the trail head, where pedestrian activity is beginning, and we enter into a forest of beech and ñires, bordering the Rio Blanco. Following this path, just 1 hour walk leads to a first viewpoint with excellent views of the Piedras Blancas Glacier. After this stop, take some pictures, and receive the guide information, in about 45 minutes we will arrive at the camp Poicennot, there will surely be tents of trekkers of different nationalities. Then nearby, cross the river by small hanging bridge to reach the base camp of "Rio Blanco", which is only used by climbers. Here, there are also armed by National Parks, protection of logs, used to shelter in bad weather. From this point, those with more energy, the guide will take you to the Mirador de Laguna de los Tres, that from Rio Blanco are 420 vertical meters in 1 hour trek. The view of Fitz Roy Massif, the lagoon and its glaciers, is spectacular. A few meters away, you can also find a very good view of the Laguna Sucia. After breakfast, you will enjoy a half day trekking to “Mirador del Torre” Starting from the downtown area of the village, take the trail leading to Cerro Torre . You will get to the viewpoint in a 1: 15hs walk ( 5km) between the Andean Patagonic forest. From here you can appreciate the Fitz Roy river valley with the Grande Glacier and Cerro Torre background. Full day tour to the famous Perito Moreno Glacier (the only growing glacier on earth), declared World’s Heritage by the UNESCO. Perito Moreno Glacier in the south western end of Argentino Lake at 80 km away from El Calafate. This glacier is so-called due to a great Argentinean explorer from last century and is one of the few glaciers that is still moving in the world. That is why it has become one of the most spectacular natural shows in South America. The tour also includes: Minitrekking over the glacier. We depart from Bajo Las Sombras Port at 75 km away from El Calafate and 8 km from Perito Moreno Glacier. From the ship (aprox 30 minutes sailing) we watch the southern wall of the glacier at a distance of about 500 m. We arrive at the opposite shore for disembarking to reach Moreno River Waterfall and there we deal with the use of crampons and ice axes which both allow us to walk on the glacier. This trek is of medium physical requirement and unsuitable for people with displacement difficulties like overweight, handicapped and pregnancy. People from 10 to 60 years old are allowed. Size 36 shoe is the smallest. This walk is attractive because of the contact with glacial ice, its peaks and interior lakes of a unique blue colour providing amazing views of the glacier walls and the lake.
