Albania, Montenegro, Croatia And Slovenia in 11 Days












Visit: Tirana - Kolasin - Cetinje - Dubrovnik - Split - Plitvice Lakes - Zagreb - Ljubljana - Bled
You will be met and transferred to your hotel. Then your
time is free to begin exploring. Tonight, gather with your
fellow travelers for a Welcome Dinner at the hotel. (D)
A morning sightseeing tour shows you Skanderbeg Square;
the Mosque of Et’hem Bey; the Clock Tower; the statue of
G.K. Skanderbeg, Albania’s national hero; the Palace of
Culture, built with Soviet assistance; and the National
History Museum, with a mosaic on its facade portraying
Albanian history. Your afternoon is free to discover the city
at your own pace, shop, or perhaps join an optional tour to
Kruje. (B
After breakfast, depart Tirana and travel to the town of
Shkodra, a cultural center and one of Albania’s oldest cities.
Drive by the ruins of Rozafa Castle, set on a hill high above
the city, then cross the border into Montenegro. Visit Morača
Monastery, the largest medieval Orthodox monument in
Montenegro built in 1252. Continue to Kolasin, the whole
area is surrounded by the thick pine forest of the Bjelasica
Mountain and is a popular skiing and air spa resort. Dinner
and overnight in Kolasin. (B, D)
Today trip to National Park Durmitor, Zabljak and River
Tara canyon the deepest canyon in Europe. Lunch at local
restaurant. In the afternoon visit Biogradsko Lake, maybe
"the most romantic lake” located in the center of Biogradska
Mountain. Dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)
See Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, and Cetinje, the
historical capital of the country, set at the foot of Mount
Lovcen on your journey today. Stop and visit the King
Nikola’s Museum, presenting the history of Montenegro.
Then, drive down a spectacularly steep road to the Bay
of Kotor, the deepest fjord in Southern Europe. Cross into
Croatia and head to Dubrovnik, set on the Adriatic. (B)
Morning walking tour of ‘old Dubrovnik’, surrounded by
walls with ramparts and fortresses. Visit the city walls and
walk along the main street of Stradun. View the old harbor,
St. Laurence fortress, the Franciscan Monastery housing
the world's oldest Pharmacy, and the Sponza and Rector's
palaces. The balance of the day is at leisure. Tonight, perhaps
join an optional family hosted dinner. (B)
Travel north along the spectacular Adriatic coast to Split.
Take a sightseeing tour featuring the historic inner city, built
around the Roman Emperor Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO
World Cultural Heritage site. Plus, see the remnants of Split's
Roman heritage, its Renaissance and Gothic structures,
Jupiter's Temple, the Peristyle, and Cathedral of St. Duje.
Tonight, perhap
Head to Trogir, the center of artistic activities in Croatia.
Scholars from all over the world gather here to study and
paint. Next, travel to splendid Plitvice Lakes National Park.
Then, have your camera at the ready as you take a walking
tour around several of the lower lakes. Enjoy the breathtaking
scenery of this natural wonder of 16 terraced lakes surrounded
by lush vegetation and thickly wooded mountains. Dinner
and overnight at hotel. (B, D)
After breakfast, we drive inland through the wooded
mountain area, lush with vegetation to Croatian capital,
Zagreb. Upon arrival, walking tour of Zagreb, with views of
the attractive facades of Ban Josip Jelacic square. Just around
the corner lies the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin
Mary. On to the medieval core of the Upper town, featuring
the Presidential Palace, Stone Gate, St. Mark’s church and the
Pope's tower. Some free time for lunch, before we continue to
Slovenia and its fairytale lake town of Bled. Tonight, optional
visit of Radovljica with dinner in the Country Inn. Overnight in
Bled. (B)
Morning sightseeing tour of Bled. With its emerald-green
lake, picture-postcard church on an islet, a medieval castle
clinging to a rocky cliff and some of the highest peaks of the
Julian Alps, Bled is Slovenia’s most popular resort. The tour
begins at the imposing 11th century Bled Castle, the oldest
in Slovenia, perched on a steep cliff high above the lake,
creating a dramatic backdrop of the city. Enjoy some time
at leisure and in the afternoon drive to Ljubljana, Slovenian
capital. City tour features views of the open-air market,
City Hall, Three bridges and the Parliament. This evening,
bid goodbye to your fellow travelers at farewell reception.

Following breakfast, you will be transferred and drop off at
Venice airport for your flight home. (B)
