Or you can enjoy the view over Borgarfjodur while standing on top of Grabrok, the largest of the three craters in a short volcanic fissure near to the road. Breakfast at the hotel and rest of the day at leisure. Use the day to explore Akureyri, Iceland’s fourth biggest city, or the area around. In Laufas, a little town nearby, you can see the old rectory as part of the Akureyri Museum. It is considered to be the prototype of Icelandic architecture. If you would rather spend the day on a boat you might want to consider whale watching in the city located in the North of Iceland. The city Aukureyri has a lot to offer as well, so you will find an activity that suits you.

Breakfast at the hotel. The day will bring you to Myvatn, a lake in a beautiful area of active volcanism. There you can swim in Myvatn’s Nature Baths, walk around the crater or glaze at the volcanic rock formations. Neskaupstadur is located directly on the fjord Norðfjörður, with a nature reserve right next to it, where you can see the so-called Easter Cave (Páskahellir).
