Siam Reap, Phnom Penh & Kampot 9 Days

( 5 Star )

Visit: Siem Reap - Phnom Penh - Kampot

A free and easy holiday package in Siem Reap with a selection of exciting optional tours. A tuk-tuk foodie tour to experience the country’s capital city as very few others do. A comprehensive visit of Phnom Penh and a dive into the dark Khmer History. A relaxing retreat in the exoticism of Kampot.

Welcome to Siem Reap, where to celebrate both ancient cultures and modern creativity with an emerging arts scene! You are greeted by our guide and driver at the airport for your transfer to the hotel.

Enjoy two full days discovering Siem Reap on your own accord. Explore any of the city’s numerous markets, they are all well worth a visit and a photographic spectacle. If you’re into crafts, do not miss the Made In Cambodia market, as well as some craftsmen workshops such as the Artisans d’Angkor. For delicious food and a break from the iconic fried noodles and num pang sandwiches that you’ll find in the street, we recommend visiting one of the social restaurants of Siem Reap. Our top suggested restaurant is Spoons Café with its beautiful bamboo structure and fine Cambodian cuisine. For those interested in learning more about the tragic history of Cambodia, we suggest a visit to the Cambodian Landmine Museum and Relief Centre. Engage in discussions with locals who are passionate about educating visitors about the past as well as the continued issues of landmines that many Cambodians still face today. We also provide a list of optional tours for you to choose from.

Free day for Optional Tours

You are met in the lobby of your hotel for a short drive to the airport. Embark on your morning flight to Phnom Penh. You are greeted upon arrival and driven to your hotel in the city center. In the afternoon, you are picked-up for a tuk-tuk ride around Phnom Penh. Sit and witness the daily life along the streets of the capital. Numerous stops to take pictures, get some explanations by the guide and interact with locals. Later on we stop nearby the Central Market that we explore before sampling some local street food. Wander around the stalls with the guide and feel free to point out some of the local treats you would like to taste. We then drive back to hotel.

Among the city's prime attractions, you will start your day exploring the famous Royal Palace, built in 1866 under the French protectorate and King Norodom. The adjoining Silver Pagoda, built in 1962, is famous for its lavish decorations, silver paved floor and several Buddha statues made from precious metals & stones. Wander the National Museum, a treasure chest of Angkorian and pre-Angkorian artefacts. After the museum, scale the steps up this small hill to see Wat Phnom Temple, the birthplace of Phnom Penh. In the afternoon, you will gain insight into Cambodia's recent history on a visit to the remarkable Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, housed in a former school that was taken over by the Khmer Rouge and used as its main detention and torture centre, named 'S-21'. A grim but important visit that will help you to understand Cambodia better. Spend the rest of day shopping at the Central Market, where you can get a taste of the bustling daily life of local people. Try some of Cambodia’s local specialties, while appreciating Phnom Penh's mix of Khmer & Colonial architecture styles. Note: To see the Royal palace and silver pagoda in Phnom Penh, visitors are required to wear appropriated cloths. Guests wearing short pans (above knee level) and sleeveless tops are not permitted.

After breakfast, driver and guide will pick you up and head south to the region of Kampot, famous for its river, its pepper plantations and its lovely little colonial town. Our car transfer across the tranquil countryside ends by the Kampot River, where we enjoy lunch at a local riverside restaurant. In the afternoon, we hop on a boat and cruise down the river to Kampot town. Check-in at the hotel, take the time to refresh and follow the guide on a short walking orientation around the narrow streets of the old colonial town.

Get ready for a day literally filled with exciting activities. We start by meeting the team of La Plantation pepper farm (certainly the most reputed pepper farm in the whole country) at Kampot’s market. Their Chef will lead us through the stalls and introduce us to the different locally grown ingredients. We then hop into the car for a 45-minute transfer to the farm, where our cooking class will be held in the lovely open-air restaurant. Under the guidance of the Chef, we will cook 3 dishes, of course all generously incorporating the spices cultivated at the farm, and later on we will enjoy the fruits of our labour over lunch. After lunch we will take a tour of the farm before heading back to the hotel. But the day is not over yet. Around about midway, we stop at the Trapeang Sangkae mangrove conservation project. Here we will learn more about their efforts to preserve and develop the mangrove which acts as an important protection against coastal erosion and also serves as a natural habitat for an entire ecosystem. We hop into a small boat to go and make our contribution to the global effort by planting some mangrove trees. We then return to the hotel for an evening at leisure.

Enjoy an easy morning. We suggest you to take a walk around to soak up the laidback vibe that surrounds the town. On your own, meander along the river and around the beautiful colonial buildings. Stop at a local café and enjoy a cup of local brew. Come back to the hotel to check-out and catch up with the guide. In the late morning, we start driving back to Phnom Penh. It is an approximate 4-hour drive and we will stop en-route for you to have lunch. Arrival to be expected in the mid- to late afternoon depending on traffic conditions around the capital.

Today is at leisure until a driver picks you up in the hotel lobby to drive you to the airport for your flight to the next destination. Check-out time is 12.00 the latest.
