Xin chao! Welcome to Hanoi, Vietnam. Hanoi, one of Asia’s most enchanting cities, is full of culture, history and the engaging contradictions of a rapidly developing and deeply traditional society. You are greeted by your guide and driver at Noi Bai International Airport for your transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Hanoi

Enjoy a full day at leisure to explore Hanoi on your own or take a private tour to unveil Hanoi’s must-see sites as well as some of its unknown districts. Optional tour: Hanoi behind the scenes (lunch included) Get ready to see Hanoi as very few others do. This tour is the perfect blend of iconic cultural sites of Hanoi and offbeat districts to sample some genuine local life. The guide meets you in the hotel lobby and off we go. After a short car transfer to the South of Hanoi through a busy urban area, we veer off the main road and enter a very special district. It suddenly feels like stepping back in time, into the 1960’s when Hanoi was a quaint capital populated mostly by modest workers. Wander around these narrow alleys covered in colourful market stalls, feel the incredible vibe and let the guide tell you the story of these unusual big yellow buildings. We have a coffee break before transferring to the temple of literature. We visit the little gem of architecture and huge piece of history. For lunch, we suggest to walk to a nearby street food shop. There are several options, our favourite would be the Bun Cha flame-grilled pork meat served with sticky rice noodles. In the afternoon, we continue to the garden of the Presidential Palace, where you can also see the one-pillar pagoda and the house on stilts where Ho Chi Minh lived. Afterwards, we have a quick fresh beer in a local Bia Hoi, the Vietnamese version of a pub. We return to the hotel in the afternoon. The rest of the day is at your own leisure. Overnight in Hanoi.

Depart with your guide from your hotel for this private adventure to North Vietnam’s less-travelled mountains. This is a 4-hour drive, including a leg-stretching break en-route, to the mountainous plateau of Hang Kia. Hang Kia is on H’mong ethnic lands, a remote village known for its plum trees and the beauty of their flowers. You have lunch at a local home, and will be treated on traditional H’mong delicacies. For this meal and the other in the mountainous area, we will dine in the local way: several dishes of meats and vegetables are served at once with rice and broth on the side. Everyone is served a bowl of rice and then pick here and there with chopsticks some meats and vegetables to eat along. After lunch, we will take a 3-hour downhill hike to a sub-valley of Mai Chau. The hike is scenic, on single trails and rather easy. Walking downhill offers great views over wild stretches of land secluded between mountains. We reach a small hamlet called Ban Buoc and are welcomed in a local home for dinner and overnight. Note: The accommodation in the homestay is arranged in dorm configuration. Each person is provided with a single mattress, bed sheets, blanket and a mosquito net. Toilets are sitting toilets and shower have hot-running water.

Depart after breakfast for a leisure bicycle ride across the valley. It Is an about 12-kilometre easy ride on narrow pathways winding between hamlets, terraced rice fields and vegetable garden. Enjoy many stops en route to take beautiful pictures, meet with people on their way to the fields or simply to enjoy the quaintness and the beauty of the surrounding nature. We reach another little hamlet in the late morning, where we can refresh before having lunch. In the afternoon, we drive back to Hanoi. Evening at leisure. Overnight in Hanoi.

Depart early morning by shuttle bus on a joined-group day cruise in Halong Bay. The bus will pick you up at the hotel and drive you to the coast where you embark on a 6-hour cruise across the limestone rocks of this legendary seascape. The exact program is not fixed and may depend on the season but it should include the visit of a cave and a delicious lunch served on the boat. In the mid-afternoon, you disembark and are driven back to Hanoi. Your overnight train to Danang departs in the evening, it should let you the time to grab a quick dinner before heading on your own to the train station.

Wake up in time to see the coast passing by through the windows of the train. The journey takes you across the 17th parallel and the DMZ area, iconic sites of the Vietnam War, then onto Hue, Lang Co Bay and, highlight of the day, along the mountainside of Hai Van Pass. You will reach Danang about mid-day. A driver will meet you at the train station and drive you to your hotel in Hoi An. Make yourself comfortable and go out explore the town on yourself, or decide to follow our guide on a private orientation and gastronomy tour around the old town. Optional tour: 87 We start our walk across the enchanting ancient town of Hoi An. Follow your guide as you meander your way through the beautiful streets and narrow alleys, which are bordered by ancient yellow-walled houses. We reach a market where you can spend some time exploring the colourful stalls and the variety of foods and souvenirs on offer. Try some local delicacies before we venture further into the town. The guide will show you various places of interest and will also arrange some spontaneous food tastings as we walk. Food, drinks and culinary legends are all on the menu today.

Enjoy a day of leisure on your own. An Bang beach is located just 4 kilometers out of town if you fancy some lazy time on the sand. You may also decide to spend the morning on an exciting kayak and bike adventure to some picturesque stretches of countryside and mangrove just outside the town. Optional tour: Kayak and bike in Hoi An (lunch included) At 8am this morning, our guide will pick you up from your hotel, and equipped with bicycles you will set off directly towards Duy Vinh Commune. The picturesque cycling route is highlighted with rice fields, local gardens and markets. Stop as often as you wish to take photographs or engage in some laidback chats with locals (using our guide as a translator). There is also time to pay a visit to a local family who are still practicing the craft of weaving sedge mattresses using traditional techniques. After about 1.5-hours cycling, it is time to hop into a kayak and off we go to explore the river. As you paddle towards Cam Thanh cocopalm forest, you will notice that the area is a large mangrove ecosystem unique to Hoi An, and the scenery is just spectacular. To end an active morning, your lunch will be served at a local farm with tasty Vietnamese food. Take as much time to relax as you wish before transferring back to your hotel.
