Driver and guide welcome you at the airport and drive you to your hotel in the city center (rooms might be available from 2pm only). We drop the luggage, take the time to refresh ourselves and get ready for our first dive into Hanoi’s bubbling atmosphere, the rest day is free at leisure. Overnight in Hanoi

Get ready to see Hanoi as very few others do. This tour is the perfect blend of iconic cultural sites of Hanoi and offbeat districts to sample some genuine local life. The guide meets you in the hotel lobby and off we go. After a short car transfer to the South of Hanoi through a busy urban area, we veer off the main road and enter a very special district. It suddenly feels like stepping back in time, into the 1960’s when Hanoi was a quaint capital populated mostly by modest workers. Wander around these narrow alleys covered in colorful market stalls, feel this incredible vibe and let the guide tell you the story of these funny big yellow blocks. We have a coffee break before transferring to the temple of literature. We visit the little gem of architecture and huge piece of History. For lunch, we suggest to walk to a nearby street food shop. There are several options, our favourite would be the Bun Cha flame-grilled pork meat served with sticky rice noodles. In the afternoon, we continue with the garden of the Presidential Palace, also the place of the one-pillar pagoda and the house on stilts where Ho Chi Minh lived. Afterwards, we have a quick fresh beer in a local Bia Hoi, the Vietnamese version of a pub. To complete our day and unveil another facet of this fascinating city, we hop on a private small electric cart and venture all around the largest lake of Hanoi (out of 100!!). The round takes a little over one hour, a very pleasant ride including the visit of the oldest wooden pagoda of Hanoi. We return to the hotel in the late afternoon. End of the day at leisure.

We depart from your hotel at 7am and head Southwest on the Ho Chi Minh Road to the Tam Diep mountain range. We drive up a pass and reach, at its top, the entrance of the unknown Ngoc Son Ngo Luong nature reserve. We slowly go down into the valley and reach the first plateau. The scenery is beautiful, terraced rice-fields with mountains covered in jungle as a background. From there, we walk for about 45 minutes on a single trail passing by a high waterfall and winding along the river and its natural pools. We reach a nice little homestay set by cascades and natural pools to enjoy a slightly late lunch there. We are hosted by a family of Muong ethnic people, warm welcome and genuine cultural immersion. In the afternoon, we can go for a walk around or just enjoy some easy time in the stream. Dinner and overnight on site.

After breakfast we exit the reserve, take the historical Ho Chi Minh road on a short stretch and reach Ninh Binh region, the so-called inland Halong bay. We arrive in a hidden corner of the region called Mount Tuong. Here we hop on bikes and go for a leisurely ride across the quaint and peaceful surrounding countryside. We have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we take a sampan ride to journey from Thien Ha grottoe to Thung Nham subvalley. We end our exploration by climbing the three levels of Bich Dong pagoda to enjoy spectacular views over the so-called Inland Halong. Overnight in Ninh Binh.

Early wake up, early breakfast, and early departure to Halong Bay. We drive across the Red River delta and reach the coast little before noon. We embark on a beautifully crafted wooden junk for an overnight cruise in the legendary seascape of Halong. Once on board, we are served a delicious seafood-based lunch, while the limestone rocks are setting up the décor. In the afternoon, we reach a less traveled area and will devote ourselves to relaxation, swimming and eventually sampan riding. The program is not fixed and depends on the time of the year and weather. We end the day on the sundeck while the sun sets. It is time for an aperitif before dinner. Overnight in a comfortable private cabin with en-suite bathroom.

While cruising back to the pier, a brunch is served as we are getting closer to disembarkation. Early Tai Chi session is proposed, coffee and tea are served early as well for the early birds wishing to see the beautiful lights of sunrise. We have the chance to visit a grotto before starting our way back to the coast. We disembark and drive to Hanoi. We prepare for you to have a hotel room available near the train station to rest and refresh. Free time for dinner and then we walk a bit to catch our night train to Dong Hoi. Overnight in a shared 4-berth cabin with soft sleeper mattress and A/C. The train in Vietnam is neither the fastest nor the most comfortable, but it surely is a real travel experience and a promise for an epic journey.

We arrive very early in the morning at Dong Hoi train station and transfer to the beach for a breakfast by the sea. We then hit the road and drive about one hour to the doorstep of Phong Nha Ke Bang national park. A kingdom of nature made of lush jungle, blue lagoons and the biggest caves of the world. We drop the luggage at our little cottage and start our exploration. In the morning, we discover the first zone of the Paradise Cave, a gigantic hole in the rock, 31-kilometer long, and 72-meter high. In the afternoon we will spend some time around the lagoon with sopme optional swimming, kayaking, ziplining down to the blue waters and exploring the wet Dark Cave. Bicycles are at our disposal so we can commute on wheels. End of the day around, at leisure. Overnight in Dong Hoi.

We start after breakfast our journey to the South and the ancient imperial capital of Hue. It is an about 5-hour journey. We stop halfay for lunch and to explore the Vinh Moc tunnels. Likewise Cu Chi tunnels, Vinh Moc features a network of underground pathways and stations used during the war as channels of communication. In the afternoon, we continue to Hue. Arrival in the late afternoon, evening at leisure. Overnight in Hue.

After breakfast, we go visit the beautiful Tu Hieu pagoda. We then hop on bicycle and go for a nice ride to the rural side of Hue. We travel on small narrow paths along rice fields and other vegetables gardens to reach Thanh Toan village. This place is full of charm with its old houses and crisscrossing canals. We stop for a refreshment by the Japanese bridge and have the opportunity to visit the little local museum. We then transfer to town for very local food experience. Let’s try all the different “banh” of Hue on Vo Thi Sau street in a small local food shop. Not the nicest spot, but probably some of the finest local cuisine. In the afternoon, we go immerse into Vietnam’s feudality with the visit of the Imperial Citadel. We continue with the tomb of Emperor Tu Duc and end the day with a nice sunset over the perfume River from a hidden pine trees forest. We come back to the hotel and rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Hue.

In the morning, we are picked up by our driver and guide. Let’s depart across the city and on the road of tombs that leads us to the Northern edge of the longest lagoon of the country. We reach a small fishermen village, a little gem that very few know about. We embark on a local boat for a short escape on the lagoon to discover the ancestral fishing techniques. Lunch will be served at the house of our boatman, fresh seafood from the morning. We then hit the road again, drive on the coastal strip to the South until we reach the Lang Co bay. Then, highlight of the day, we drive up the Hai Van pass and its breathtaking vistas over the sea. We pass Danang and arrive at the hotel in Hoi An in the late afternoon. Overnight in Hoi An.

A full day on your own to stroll around the narrow streets of the old quarter and/or to have some lazy time at the beach.

In the morning, driver picks you up at the hotel and drive you to the airport in Danang to catch a flight to Saigon. You are welcomed at the airport by tour guide and driven to your hotel in the city center. We drop the luggage and go for a short orientation tour of Saigon ancient colonial building first. Later on we go wander around Tan Dinh market, the oldest in town rebuilt by the French in the 1920’s. We get back to the hotel in the late afternoon, evening at leisure. Overnight in Saigon

After breakfast at the hotel, we make our way to Can Gio Mangrove Forest. Located about 80km to the South of the metropolis, the forest was almost ruined by bombings and defoliants sprayed during the war time, but has been fully recovered and sustainably developed after several years of reforestation effort. Today we will explore and learn more about its special environment. Being an intermediary ecosystem between the underwater and the terrestrial ecosystem, the freshwater and the salt water ecosystem, Can Gio is home to varied flora and fauna. We then take canoe to explore the mangrove further and have a close study on its ecosystem We return to Saigon in the afternoon. Evening at leisure. Overnight in Saigon
