Arrival to Belgrade airport and transfer to your hotel for overnight.

Breakfast in the hotel. This morning, we will visit Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The city is located on the banks of Danube and Sava river and remains an important crossroads of the Balkans. Cultural references are omnipresent. Many monuments are to be discovered, such as the stature of the »victory of Belgrade«, the symbol of the city located in the park of Kalemegdan siting on the top of Mount Avala. Walk the city and discover the Terazije square, the central square, the Parliament, the Republic square with the National Theater and National Museum. Visit the St. Sava Church, overlooking the city with its sparkling dome, today the largest Orthodox church in the world. See the residence of Princess Ljubica, House of Flowers, where former Yugoslavian president Tito is buried. The warmth of the people of Belgrade makes the city even more attractive. Enjoy evening on your own by having dinner in one of the local restaurants in the bohemian quarter of Skadarlija. Overnight in Belgrade.

After breakfast, we will take a trip to the second largest city in Serbia, Novi Sad. On our way we will stop in a nearby town of Sremski Karlovci, known as the center of Serbian culture of the 18th century. A walk through the cobbled streets of this picturesque town will lead us to the first Serbian high school. Visit of a local wine cellar. Continue to Novi Sad, a remarkable settlement on the Danube river and an important stopover between the Balkans and Central Europe. Visit the Catholic Cathedral built in a typical neo-gothic style, the Orthodox cathedral and other Serbian cultural institutions. After the visit of the city we will discover the Petrovaradin fortress, the second-largest fortress on the Danube river and one of the most important strategic points in the perpetual war between AustroHungarian and Ottoman Empires. Return to Belgrade. Overnight in hotel in Belgrade.

Breakfast at the hotel and drive towards the Eastern Serbia. Our first stop this morning is the Golubac fortress that was used to defend many kingdoms throughout centuries. It is the perfect fairy-tale castle, wonderfully set off by its location in the rugged landscape at the head of Đepard Gorge. After the tour of the fortress, we will continue to the Iron Gate the widest flow Danube river has and gives the impression of the sea. Passing the Iron Gate, we will reach our next stop Lepenski Vir where we will see more than 100 items illustrating the Mesolithic and Neolithic periods. Return to Belgrade. Overnight in hotel

Breakfast at hotel and departure to Morava valley. In the morning, we will discover the Smederovo with its fortress, located on a vast plateau at the mount of the Jezava River and Danube. It was built as the capital of the country and the castle of the despot Djuradj Brankovic. Today it representrs a cultural monument of exceptional value and a popular tourist site. Continue to Manasija. Visit of the Manasija Monastery, founded by despot Stefan Lazarevic in the first half of the 15th century, where the most beautiful frescoes are found. The monumental rampart with 11 towers, encircled by a moat, represented at the time a modern defence system of the monastery. Drive to Niš for overnight in hotel.

After breakfast we leave to Studenica. Founded at the end of the 12th century by Stevan Nemanja, creator of the medieval Serbian state, the Studenica monastery is the largest and the richest of the Orthodox monasteries in Serbia. Its two main monuments, the Church of the King, built in white marble, make it a veritable conservatory of Byzantine painting of the 13th and 14th centuries. Departure to Zlatibor. This vast plateau of hills is an important tourist center, with the longest tradition among the Serbian mountains. Overnight in hotel.

This day will be dedicated to the discovery of the region. The day begins witH the steam train ride that takes travellers on a 15 km ride between Šargan and Mokra Gora while climbing the mountainside, forming a number “eight”. We continue our visit to the wooden town where, famous movie director, Emir Kusturica recreated a traditional Serbian village. In the afternoon, we visit Sirogojno, an openair museum that evokes architecture, the interior of buildings, daily activity and the organization of family life of people in the mountainous region of Zlatibor. Return to hotel for overnight.

Breakfast at the hotel and drive towards Belgrade. On the way we will stop at a small town of Topola, which until today resembles a typical 19th century town. Discover the Oplenac complex including the Church of Saint-George, built in the Serbo-Byzantine style, the tomb of Karadjorjevic dynasty, the King Peter’s house and the King’s Cave, storing the oldest wines in Serbia. The church was built as the temple and mausoleum of the sovereign family of Karadjordjevic, and its interior is decorated with a mosaic made of 40 million cubes in 15,000 shades. These are copies of the most beautiful frescoes of 60 Serbian monasteries so that experts say that this church represents a true anthology of mural painting, medieval, Serbian. Continue to Belgrade. Overnight in hotel in Belgrade.
