Mahebourg Foodie Tour

( 5 Star )
Food lovers, we’ve got you covered with this foodie tour in Mahebourg… Mahebourg is not only a village rich in history but also abounds in terms of food diversity. Aligning history with food, our first visit will be at the famous Biscuiterie Rault, a family business created more than 140 years ago. We’ll get to learn about the process of their renowned tapioca biscuits, a real treat for the tastebuds. Let’s stroll in the heart of the village near the folkloric market and Mahebourg Waterfront and eat the famous “gateau merveille” with some chutney, the chana puri, grilled nuts and grams. For those feeling thirsday, we propose some refreshing coconut juice, drunk directly from the coconut fruit itself. Now for the main course we’ll eat at a typical Mauritian restaurant named Casse Croute (French for a snack) or similar restaurant which Mauritians called “boui boui”. There you’ll get to taste one of the favourite lunch of Mauritians which is the “Mine Bouillie” or boiled noodles accompanied with either chicken or meat. We’ll end the day visiting one of the best banana chips making factory, found in La Flora in the south of the island.
