Relaxed and welcoming, this sun-soaked tropical island lies off the northwest coast of Malaysia in the shimmering blue Straits of Malacca. The island has a personality all of its own which has made it a favoured destination with Malaysians and foreign tourists alike. The atmosphere is lively and fun and there is lot to do on an intimate island scale. With historic capital, golden beaches, fascinating heritage and exciting cuisine, Penang is no doubt Malaysia’s best-loved resort.

Today you arrive in Penang, a melting pot of cultures and top-notch food scene. Transfer to your chosen hotel, your home for three nights. The remainder of your day is at leisure.

Following breakfast, a local guide will take you on a sightseeing tour of the city. Hear stories of the city’s past and present as you drive past its famous landmarks including Fort Cornwallis, Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower, Clan Jetty and Street of Harmony where mosque, kovil, temple and church sit along the same short stretch of road. Next, visit Wat Chayamangkalaram Siamese temple and Dhammikarama Burmese temple to take in their striking architectural style. The remainder of the day is yours to independently explore further or relax at the hotel.

Set off for a wonderful day of sightseeing and explore Kek Lok Si temple - the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia and arguably one of the most iconic landmarks in Penang. The centerpiece of the temple is the 7-tiered Pagoda of 10,000 Buddhas and adjacent to this imposing edifice is a bronze Statue of Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy), believed to be the tallest in the world. Hop on the funicular train and ride up to the top of Penang Hill, rising spectacularly 830 metres above sea level. It was once a cool hill retreat during the colonial days. Ticket for funicular train is included.

Your tour comes to a close, leaving you with many pleasant memories of a wonderful holiday. Transfer to the airport for your flight home.

-In Penang a local government fee of AUD 13.00 and AUD 22.00/room/night will be collected respectively in local currency upon check-in at the hotel.

TOURIST TAX
Tourist taxes are becoming more and more common in a number of holiday destinations today. It is a small fee that is usually collected by the hotels upon check-in or check-out. The cost of tourist tax can vary by destination. Currently, the Malaysian Government has reinstated the Tourism Tax (TTX) of AUD 44.00/room/night for all foreign passport holders
for hotel stays effective from 1st January 2023. Please note that tax is inflationary, therefore charges are subject to change anytime.
