GENERAL MEAL DESCRIPTION
Malay Cooking
The use of fresh herbs and spices make delicious and flavourful food. Chilly, garlic and ginger are endemic and meat and seafood are often cooked in coconut milk to accompany rice. Popular dish: Satay, which consists of meat, usually chicken barbecued on small skewers with a sweet peanut dipping sauce and a salad of cucumber, onion and rice cakes

Chinese Cooking
This is the most popular choice among visitors; and it certainly milder with less use of spices but no less delicious. Rice and noodles feature prominently and the dishes reflect the many regional methods of preparation available including Cantonese, Szechuan and Taiwanese

Indian Cooking
Indian food is a very popular choice with the locals. Northern and southern Indian food is well represented and vegetarian meal is among the favourite

Nyonya Cooking
When the earliest Chinese immigrants settled in Malaysia and intermarried with the local people, they developed their own culture and create a delicious fusion of cuisine. A typical Nyonya food tends to be spicier than Malay cooking but very tasty

Popular dish; Laksa, combining noodles into a spicy coconut soup served with seafood, bean sprouts, lemon grass and pineapple

Malaysian Cooking – Nasi Kandar
Nasi Kandar is a popular northern Malaysian dish, which originates from Penang. It is a meal of steamed rice which can be plain or mildly flavored, and served with a variety of curries and side dishes. The word Nasi Kandar, came about from a time when nasi [rice] hawkers or vendors would kandar [balance] a pole on the shoulder with two huge containers of rice meals. The name has remained and today the word Nasi Kandar is seen on most Tamil Muslim or "Malaysian Mamak" restaurants
